In my opinion skel spell isn’t worth it. You can use the invisibility spell for some blizzard (blimp/super wizard/invisspell) action. I really enjoy using bowler, witches and ice golem. For farming e drags are a solid choice

It depends on your army. I use an air army (Drags, balloons, lightning spell and rage spell). So the first thing I upgraded was my lightning spell.
